She Let Go

Wednesday, August 11, 2010
“She let go. Without a thought or a word, she let go. She let go of the fear. She let go of the judgments. She let go of the confluence of opinions swarming around in her head. She let go of the committee of indecision within her. She let go of all the ‘right’ reasons. Wholly and completely, without hesitation or worry, she just let go.

She didn’t ask anyone for advice. She didn’t read a book on how to let go. She didn’t search the scriptures. She just let go. She let go of all of the memories that held her back. She let go of all of the anxiety that kept her from moving forward. She let go of the planning and all of the calculations about how to do it just right.

She didn’t promise to let go. She didn’t journal about it. She didn’t write the projected date in her Day-Timer. She made no public announcement and put no ad in the paper. She didn’t check the weather report or read her daily horoscope. She just let go.

She didn’t analyze whether she should let go. She didn’t call her friends to discuss the matter. She didn’t do a five-step Spiritual Mind Treatment. She didn’t call the prayer line. She didn’t utter one word. She just let go.

No one was around when it happened. There was no applause or congratulations. No one thanked her or praised her. No one noticed a thing. Like a leaf falling from a tree, she just let go. There was no effort. There was no struggle. It wasn’t good and it wasn’t bad. It was what it was, and it is just that. In the space of letting go, she let it all be. A small smile came over her face. A light breeze blew through her. And the sun and the moon shone on her.”

A Happy Place

Monday, July 26, 2010
Lately, I've been in such a silly, sunny happy place. It's showing up on my journal pages. I knocked out this one before 9am.....kinda sappy, huh?

I have mentioned that I only share my pages before I actually journal on them, right? So this sappy page is bound to get a bit grungier! I just can't be that sweet.

Maybe my pages are looking this way because it's summer in the city ...and maybe it's because of the new pool . . . and could be due to Connie's influence AND maybe it's just cause Sabrina Ward Harrison's coming to town for "Trust the Mess"! I hear the workshop is nearly full....better sign up! I'm just saying.....

An Interview with Dirty Footprints Studio

Saturday, July 24, 2010

My beautific friend Connie, of Dirty Footprints Studio, is so dang smart. Over the month of July, she is gathering 30 art journalers all in one place. You will not believe the eye candy!

I'm a fortunate chickie to be among those 30 artists . . . she's gone and published an interview with moi! It features pictures and the story of my art journaling journey - none of which has been shared on this blog before. I hope you'll take a couple of minutes and check it out.

BTW - Connie is the MOST amazing teacher. I am currently participating in her online course called "BIG".... it is everything and more than I expected. It's BIGGER than BIG. Our tribe of "Fearless Painters" is literally rocking my world (in the best possible way)! I highly recommend you sign up the next time Connie offers the BIG love in the fall!

P.S. - If you haven't put your name into the hat for my blogger-versary
journal giveaway do see my post dated July 22, 2010 below for details.
Only five days before I draw the winner.
Don't you be left out!!

It's Totally Okay

It's totally okay to paint bad
It's totally okay to paint beautiful

It's perfectly fine to paint sad
It's perfectly fine to paint silly

It's really cool to paint fast
It's really cool to paint slow

It's totally okay....

Fair Warning

Sunday, July 11, 2010
The past week has been a painting tornado....I have been participating in Connie Hozvicka's Fearless Painting Adventure called "BIG"! Our week has been filled with exercises and discussions and assignments that must've opened up new neural pathways in my creative little brain because I am on FIRE! Whew! There's 5 more weeks to go...there's no telling how BIG I'm likely to become!

No....I'm not gonna show you what I've been up to....you would have to be there to understand.
But you can find Connie here.

I'm over the top energized, ready to rock and I AM JUST GETTING STARTED! I may never put down the paint brush again. All self imposed barriers and limitations and walls are tumbling down! Fair warning!

My classmate, the beautiful and talented Lisa Wilson, said it best with these words: "I'm crashing through some imaginary wall that I didn't even know existed, some wall of fearbricks that I've paint-bombed." Fearbricks that she's paint-bombed!!! OMG that's BIG! (She gave me permission to use her words. She did! See how generous my new tribe of fearless painters are!! Go find Lisa here.
