A Gift For You - My FREE Online Art Journaling Workshop!!

Last year, I was one of 21 teachers who taught online art journaling workshops in Connie Hozvicka's 21 Secrets. I'm sharing that workshop with you now below (for free)! The instructional video will lead you through a complete start to finish project where you'll create a completely original one of a kind journal.

The second video is a flip through of the journal I created.....I truly hope you'll enjoy creating your own. It's the kind of journal you can use for further "art journaling", as a scrapbook, or as a more "traditional" written journal. It's also a great project to share with the kids in your life. Have fun!

(Oh and there was a PDF to accompany these videos, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to put it here. If you know how, please clue me in! I think you'll be fine without it though - but if you have any questions, I'm here for you.)

The Doodlicious Daybook

The past few months, I've had the honor to teach my first online art journaling course over at 21 Secrets: An Art Journal Playground. It was hosted by Connie over at Dirty Footprints Studio. She gathered so many amazing art journaling teachers that the response was stupendous . . . I've had over 180 students pass through my class so far!





My workshop was called the Doolicious Daybook. (Pics here are some of my pages and the cover.) Students began by hand painting doodles WAY big on large rolls of paper. Then they deconstructed, cut, collaged, added any other papers wanted, sewed, taped and otherwise artfully assembled the papers into a completely original journal of their own. Then there was adding photos, journaling and whatever they could think of. I loved seeing their work bloom into full living color before my very eyes!



I'm sad that the workshop will be closing at the end of the month, but I wanted to share a couple of girl's work who wrote blog posts of their own. Do go take a looksie and share the love, won't you?

My Gigantic Sketchbook

I tote a small sketchbook in my bag with me everywhere, but sometimes, there's just no substitute for a GIGANTIC one!



I used the latest Free People and Anthropologie catalogs as inspiration....I'm not sure I'd know quite how to draw a "live" model.





All these were drawn with a Sharpie marker and colorized with my tiny travel watercolor kit. I'm suddenly in love with the simplicity of ink and watercolor. (Me . . . the one with tons of Art Journaling paraphernalia! Great...the irony of that, as I'm an art journaling teacher, does not escape me. Maybe a sketchbook class is next??)

Going Tribal

I'm getting some backgrounds painted in a new journal I made for an upcoming trip. I used Teesha Moore's infamous 16 page journal technique. Instructions can be found on her blog here. I doubled mine though and made it a 32 pager!



Because I love all things ethnic or tribal, I decided to explore that a bit in this tiny tome.









Some of it looks a bit African, some Aboriginal....it's all mixed up.





Got many more pages to paint, and I'll share more as it's done.
(I may even get brave enough to show you pages after I've journaled in them....well probably not.)



Don't you just LOVE white gel pens?? Obviously I do!
