You Want What?

Saturday, January 2, 2010
When Santa asked me what I wanted for Christmas this year, I knew right away. "I want a sewing machine!"

"You want what!?!" my husband, uh I mean Santa, asked with stunned surprise. (You see, I'd never touched a sewing machine in my life!)

"A sewing machine. But don't worry, I won't be making your clothes or mine! Don't even ask me to hem up the pup's new rain slicker! Nope, I'll be making something like this . . . "

"Or even better . . . this!"

"With insides that look something like this!"

"Pages I've sewn together from random images, magazine pages, scrapbook paper, security envelopes and stuff. It's a new expression of recycling and I'm hooked!"

"I learned to do it all here!"

"Layers of stickers, journaling, photographs and more are being quickly added . . . making my ever fattening journal a visual feast for my eyes!"

Santa willingly obliged my odd request, as you can see, grateful that the girl on his knee hadn't suddenly become tame and domesticated after all.

I have a sewing machine that I've only used a handful of times to "create" some dolls and a handbag or two for my nieces. I really don't know what I'm doing but yesterday I joined the "Cloth & Clay Doll" group and got my sewing machine out. I sprayed the insides with canned air to get rid of any dust and I tried to sew some dolls... but the damn bobbin keeps bunching up! I went to YouTube and watched some info videos and thought I had figured it out but...I haven't! So I'm in an irritable mood (that and my water pipes freezing because the wind factor here is 15 below) anyway at least the pipes are now thawed out and I have water now!
So, Happy New Year! I wish you joy and happiness with your sewing machine (mine is about to end up outside in the snow!) AND I do love what you have created so far, I'm envious!(for several reasons!) LOL!
