Art Journaling Rules!

Monday, August 24, 2009
I went a little overboard and purchased tons of the new Sabrina Ward Harrison products from Papaya.....way overboard! Everything is so beautiful! Just like I knew this collaboration would be!

The journals are big and chunky.....the pages are as thick as card stock (which means they'll take tons of abuse and paint and layers).

I couldn't wait to get my hands on them!

It's been a couple of weeks since I got them....and at last I had the time to play!

And other than spreading a little color around successfully, everything I touched today turned out yucky!

Do you ever have those days? Days when whatever you try turns out....well ugly! And gross! What's up with that?

I decided it was because I was trying to follow some sort of "Art Journaling Rules".

As if. As if there were rules. It is my journal...and no one sees it (but you.)

And I only show you the half decent pages!

Believe me there's ugly in there!

Do you have rules for your art making?
Maybe the serious guys should....but me -- I just wanna have fun!

There are times I hate everything I work on, but if I put it away and take it out after I have forgotten about it, sometimes I see it in a new light and I might paint over something or collage something to it or stamp it and suddenly I love it...or sometimes I look at it later and say ...this is crap! and I throw it out!
I can't remember the exact quote but there's one that goes something like - you have to know failure to know success!
Don't worry, it will turn around! You're very talented!
